The applicant will direct all engine room activities on-board major Saudi Aramco-manned vessels, which provide marine services to other company departments. He will be responsible, under the general supervision of the captain on assigned vessel, for serving as the senior member of the engine room crew and directing activities such as operating, maintaining and repairing marine engine room equipment. This position is relocation. This is a shore-based job with a regular work schedule (5/2) and 8 hours/day.
Candidates must hold a Certificate of Competency as Chief Engineer.
Must have 10 years of experience including seven years at sea, one of which while serving as Chief Engineering Officer 3000 HP. Must have completed ERW and MI.
Duties and Responsibilities
Candidates will provide supervision and work direction for all engine-room personnel during regular watch and will be on call 24 hours/day while on board the ship.
Verifies and signs the watch and daily log books and records.
Ensures on-the-job instruction and guidance for assigned trainees.
Ensures preventive maintenance activities at sea are carried out on all machinery including heavy diesel engines, air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, electronic, mechanical drive systems, pollution control firefighting and other auxiliary equipment.
Ensures proper operating and repair procedures for all machinery are followed through inspection and spot checks of work in progress. Initiates requirements for fuel and water, and signs loading documents.
Ensures that engine room personnel on all watches are trained in proper operating procedures, maintenance program, firefighting and emergency procedures.
Keeps a running inventory of spare parts, tools and engine room stores and restocks the same as required. Performs other miscellaneous related duties as required.
