We are seeking a Math Teacher – Industrial Training Center to join the Professional Learning Division (PLD) of Academic Programs & Partnership Department (AP&PD).
The PLD is responsible for the College Preparatory Program (CPP) that prepares recently graduated high school students for admission to and success at competitive universities overseas. It is an intensive 10-month program, focusing on the academic and life skills required by students. As well as a strong academic tradition, the program also has an extensive co-curricular program.
The Math Teacher primary role is to teach all College Preparatory Program (CPP) math courses with a teaching load of 4 hours per day, 20 periods per week, as well as a daily office hour. Responsible for the development and implementation of teaching notes, periodic review of courses, and assisting in the production of internal assessment material. Assisting in the proctoring and grading of the internal and external examinations. Responsible for the prompt reporting of attendance and test scores. Conducting special projects for curriculum development when assigned. Required to teach math clinics and tutorials when required.
As the successful candidate you will hold a bachelor’s degree in math from a recognized and approved program. An M.S. degree in math is preferred.
You will have minimum of 5 years of experience in teaching Calculus and Pre-Calculus at the pre-college/college level. Experience in teaching AP Calculus AB/BC, A-Level Pure Math, or IB Math is preferred.
You should have recent math teaching experience and/or certification.
You should be fluent in oral and written English.
Computer and graphing calculator literacy is desirable.
You should have basic knowledge and skills in computer applications, such as Word Processing & Excel spreadsheets.
Duties and Responsibilities
You will be required to perform the following:
Teach high school graduate students, determine and use appropriate methods to address student needs, capabilities and skills required.
Prepare daily lesson plans, training aids, quizzes, experiments, demonstrations and supplementary materials as appropriate.
Prepare test material, evaluate student progress, and submit regular evaluation reports.
Administer, proctor and grade performance tests.
Conduct classes in the Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) lab on a regular, assigned basis.
Utilize available audio-visual aids, such as computers and charts, and develop similar materials as needed.
Diagnose individual learning problems and plan remedial work.
Complete prescribed student records on attendance and achievement.
Counsel students for simple cases of absence and misbehavior, and refer more serious cases to the ITC
Principal or Assistant Principal for appropriate action.
Confer with students and, at the Principal’s request, with supervisors about student progress; consult with administrators and other teachers regarding changes in texts, curricula revisions and innovations or pertinent administrative procedures.
Assist in new teacher orientation, help promote high academic standards, and maintain a professional atmosphere within the training center.
Prepare academic deficiency and disciplinary reports as needed.
Contribute ideas and suggestions for upgrading the quality of instruction.
Use appropriate websites to supplement course material and enhance course objectives.
Keep himself updated with technology and software applications related to the curriculum.
Make use of Information Technology to enhance communication and instruction.
Prepare supplementary teaching materials.
Proctor online tests.
Maintain the highest confidentiality standards when handling paper tests and reports.
Prepare & administer quizzes/tests.
Prepare professional development presentations in recess periods and for the In-Service days.
Maintain discipline and guide students in safety and study habits.
Act as a safety/fire warden when required.
